BSc MHS not only include the knowledge and experience provided in a regular HM course but also includes knowledge of ships & shipping industry, safety & environmental compliances etc. It gives an edge to candidate to pursue a career on cruises, luxury hotels as well as merchant ships.

After 12th Standard, Certificate course in Maritime Catering is the only short term training program in the country, approved by Director General of Shipping which is aimed to develop knowledge, skill, and attitude required to work in the Catering Department of Merchant Ships.

Merchant ships usually have the strength of 20 to 30 crew members who may be different nationalities. Crew members have the privilege of visiting different ports around the world. The remuneration which a crew member receives is in foreign currency and tax free depending upon the duration of sail in a financial year. Most of the BSc MHS students reach a monthly package of USD 1500 to 2000 in three years that too tax-free!.
