Mr. V. A. Kamath - Head Management system & Training Consultant

Mr. V. A. Kamath commenced his maritime career in 1977 with The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. He transitioned from sailing as Chief Engineer to a role as Technical Manager ashore in 1993. His journey led him to Eurasia Ship Management, where he served as a Technical Superintendent, refining his skills in maritime operations. In 2004, Mr Kamath assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer at MAN B & W Diesel (I) Ltd, overseeing operations across India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh until 2009. Subsequently, he joined TS Rahaman as a Consultant in Training, dedicating himself to advancing maritime education and expertise until 2015. Following a two-year tenure as a Consultant in Training at the Indian Register of Shipping, he resumed with TS Rahaman in April 2017, further contributing to the maritime industry's development and progress. Mr Kamath's academics boast of B.E. Mech with Hons. from VJTI, Marine Engineering with Extra First Class, M.S. in QMS from BITS Pilani, and now he's pursuing PhD from IMU

1. Graduate in Mechanical Engineering, (First class with distinction) from Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli, Maharashtra in 1990 batch. Started career in The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd from 1992, as Trainee Marine Engineer. Served in SCI over 31 years. Passed MEO Class- I(Motor) in 2005 and has 06 years of experience as Sailing Chief Engineer Officer. ii) A Marine professional with over 21 years of sea going experience on different types of fleets specially Oil Tankers and 10 years of shore management experience in operations/activities, such as in ISM, ISPS and IMS cell as Internal Auditor, Technical operations of Bulk Carriers as Engg. Superintendent. Have served as Engg. Faculty, Dean (Engg Studies) as well as Deputy Management Representative of the prestigious Maritime Training Institute (MTI), Powai, an Integrated Management System certified (comprises of ISO 9001:2015, ISO14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018) training and retired from SCI on 31.05.2024. iii) Now joined at “Training Ship Rahaman as Engg Faculty for (IMU DNS)” (From 25th July-2024 to 13.11.2024), presently Course In-charge for GME from 14.11.2024 till date)
